New Venture · Founding Contractor Opportunity

Founding Technical Operator — Bitcoin Mining & Heat Recovery

We are building a new company around using high-density computing — initially Bitcoin ASIC mining — as a controllable heat source in real buildings. Our first Alberta multifamily deployment will be developed while the company itself is being built: technical systems, vendor relationships, financing pathways, operating processes, customer offering and future deployments will move forward in parallel.

We are looking for the first technical operator to help drive that venture. This is intended to be an independent contractor / venture-building relationship, not a conventional managed employee role. The right person should be capable of learning and owning the system end to end and then helping build the people, processes and commercial operating system underneath it.

Structure

Independent contractor / venture builder

Initial commitment

Approx. 20–30 hours/week

Initial cash base

C$5–$10/hour

Upside

Meaningful project-based participation

This is not a crypto trading role, a research-only role, a generic VA position, or a North American consulting-rate engagement.

We are deliberately offering a modest cash base plus meaningful upside for an entrepreneurial technical operator who wants to help build the venture. This is best suited to someone in a lower-cost market who values ownership, autonomy and the opportunity to participate in successful projects more than a high hourly consulting rate.

What you would own

  • • Learn and document the full miner-to-building heat-recovery system.
  • • Evaluate ASICs, firmware, pools, mining economics and operating strategies.
  • • Evaluate immersion tanks, fluids, pumps, filtration, heat exchangers and heat rejection.
  • • Work with building data to understand heat load, hydronic loops, boiler interaction and useful heat capture.
  • • Coordinate with licensed electricians, mechanical contractors, engineers and controls specialists where required.
  • • Build BOMs, vendor comparisons, operating models, commissioning plans, dashboards and SOPs.
  • • Help commission, monitor, troubleshoot and optimize the first Alberta deployment.
  • • Build the tracking systems, documentation standards and operating routines around deployed systems.
  • • Recruit, train and manage future junior operators or contractors as the platform grows.
  • • Help turn the technical system into a repeatable commercial product for additional building owners.

What we care about

  • • Real systems thinking across mining, cooling, heat transfer, power and controls.
  • • Hands-on evidence is more valuable than credentials alone.
  • • Resourcefulness: you can figure out unfamiliar technical problems without constant supervision.
  • • Verification: you do not blindly trust AI, vendors, Reddit posts or your own first assumption.
  • • Clear limits: you know when a licensed/local specialist must own a decision.
  • • Documentation: someone else should be able to understand and operate what you build.
  • • Leadership: you can eventually hire, train, track and hold other operators accountable.
  • • Commercial thinking: the system must make economic sense, not merely work technically.
  • • Entrepreneurial ownership: you are comfortable being given an outcome and driving toward it without daily management.

The company we are building

Fort Macleod is Deployment #1, not a prerequisite to starting the company. While that system is being designed, installed and measured, we intend to build the broader platform in parallel: site assessment, system design, equipment sourcing, licensed-trade coordination, monitoring, operations, customer reporting and a repeatable commercial playbook.

We also intend to reduce customer friction around capital. CREG already works with lenders and financing relationships around real-estate and equipment-backed projects, and the commercial model may include arranging or introducing suitable financing / leasing pathways for qualified customers, subject to lender approval and project-specific underwriting.

Compensation and upside

Initial cash compensation is expected to start around C$5–$10/hour depending on capability and availability. We are publishing that range intentionally so there is no mismatch with applicants seeking North American consulting rates.

The larger opportunity is project-based upside. We want the right person to participate meaningfully when they help create successful deployments — through separately agreed milestone bonuses, deployment economics, recurring project participation or another defined structure. We are not promising company equity or a specific payout in this posting; any upside arrangement will be documented separately and should grow with demonstrated responsibility and value created.

Hiring process

  1. 1. Short application. We screen for evidence, technical breadth, judgment, entrepreneurial fit and rate/availability alignment.
  2. 2. Interview. We go deep on systems you have actually worked on and how you think through unfamiliar problems.
  3. 3. Paid practical for finalists. Finalists may be invited to a scoped technical exercise based on the Alberta deployment. Scope, time expectation and compensation will be agreed before the work begins.
  4. 4. Final discussion and contractor engagement. We agree initial responsibilities, autonomy, availability, cash compensation and the framework for project upside.

Apply

Be specific and honest. If you are strong in Bitcoin mining but weak in hydronics, say that. If you are strong in thermal/mechanical systems but newer to ASICs, say that. We are looking for the person who can become accountable for the whole system and help drive the venture — not someone who pretends to know everything already.
