Explore the River Valley with Larkfir Conservation: Session 1 - Birds in the Afternoon

Join us for a two-hour, all-ages exploration of the birds that call the Oldman River Valley home. We’ll begin at the Fort, with a brief introduction to local species and their ecology, before heading out into the river valley for an immersive, hands-on experience in the landscape itself. Through guided observation and a simple nature-inspired art activity, participants will learn to notice habitat layers, bird behavior, and the subtle ecological relationships that shape our river valley. Even when birds are quieter on a hot summer afternoon, the landscape is teeming with activity for those who know how to look. Perfect for curious kids, families, and lifelong learners alike. Brook Skagen (He/They) is a Professional Biologist, rangeland agrologist, artist, and educator based in Lethbridge, Alberta. As the founder of Larkfir Conservation Services, Brook works at the intersection of prairie ecology, conservation, and community learning.
